Tourism is an important part of the Moroccan economy.

You will find the Moroccan people extremely welcoming and friendly. Morocco is a stable and growing country, with an incredibly rich and continuous cultural history. Natural beauty and cultural splendour are both in abundant supply. You are sure to find Morocco a feast for the senses.

The country is a constitutional monarchy with a free press, and a vibrant and lively economy. Morocco's current Royal Family is the oldest continuous dynasty in the world. The country has an active Parliament, and is a constitutional monarchy. Morocco is a country with an incredibly rich and long historical tradition and sense of nationhood, which has helped forge a strong cultural identity, thus avoiding some of the difficulties that other developing nations have suffered. The Moroccans are a friendly and warm people, and crime, particularly violent crime, is virtually non-existent. Tourism is a fledgling industry in Morocco, so the country is in many ways still "unspoiled".

The country is predominantly Muslim, but has long had one of the largest communities of Jews outside of Israel; there are also many Berber tribes whose faith is more traditional and animist in outlook. There is even one tribe of Berber Jews, the Ait Yacoub. The Ait Yacoub are great carpet makers, and one of their rare works can be found in the Middle Atlas Room.

Phone and Internet: There are internet cafes all over Marrakech, and you will generally find them easily throughout Morocco. Broadband is now widely available in the cities.

Time differences: Morocco is on Greenwich time all the time; there is no daylight savings time. One or two hours' difference with France depending on the season (daylight savings or standard time); one hour or no difference with the UK and Portugal.
