Living Room

The Living Room takes is inspired by the old spice, gold, and slave trade routes that extended south from Marrakech, through the high passes and snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains, and onto the southern plains, the entry point to the Sahara. Furnishings evocative of the glory years of Morocco's past as one of Africa's great trading nations can be found throughout this comfortable salon.

Hanging lamps made of stretched skin, African maps, and the famous leather and reed carpets of Mauretania adorn this room. Decorative water gourds that used to keep the camel herders from certain thirst on their meanderings from water hole to water hole, decorate the room. Other artefacts, masks, and the like, complete the tableau.

There is a massive fireplace at one end of the room, and a wide range of chairs, settee's and couches for guests to enjoy, and regale one another with their stories and adventures about a profitable day spent in the souks, or touring the ramparts of this magical city.
